    Aristotle

    He was the first to say that the earth is in the centre of the solar system
  • 200 BCE

    Aristarchus

    He was the first to challenge Aristotle's theory, saying that the sun is in the centre
  • 150

    Ptolemy

    He made the idea of epicycles to show how the planets move (The earth is still in the centre)
  • 1543

    Nicolas Copernicus

    He was the second person to say that the sun was at the centre of the solar system

  • Galileo Galilei

    He was the inventor of the telescope. He also showed that Jupiter had moons

  • Johannes Kepler

    He made the 3 laws of planetary motion. He also introduced the idea of orbital planes being in ellipses(ovals) and not circles.

  • Issac Newton

    The man who discovered gravity. Later in his life,he made the 3 laws of physics that we use to this day.

  • William Herschel

    The man who discovered Uranus.

  • Edwin Hubble

    The man who discovered the fact that the universe is continually growing. He is also the man who created the Hubble telescope.
