    Charles Robert Dawrin, is born on Feb. 12, 1809, at The Mount in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, UK.
  • Venezuela - first S.A Country

    On the 5th of July, 1811, Venezuela became the first country in South America. On this day, Venezuela gained independence from Spain.
  • Charles Darwin's mom, Susannah, passes away.

    In the month of July, 1817, Charles Darwin's mom dies, when Darwin is just 8 years old.
  • The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad

    In 1828, the first railroad for passengers and freight alike was built, which was name the Ohio and Baltimore Railroad (B&O).
  • Darwin sets out on HMS Beagle

    Darwin arrives in Patagonia
    In the month of August, 1833, Charles Darwin arrives in the Southern province of Argentina, in a land called Patagonia.   • Darwin is put on the Galapagos Islands

    Darwin is put on the Galapagos Islands
    On the 15th of September, 1835, Charles Darwin traveled to the Galapagos Islands, where he collected most of his research, including new species, such as finches, and the plants and landscape. he spent most of his time on Chatham Island, the largest of the ten. He noticed the animals were not afraid, and the landscape he recorded was very rocky, humid, and smelled unpleasant. (Karp, Walter. "Charles Darwin and the Origin Of Species" pgs. 50-55)
  • Darwin starts to develop his theory of Natural Selection

    On this date, Darwin begins his theory of Natural Selection, using the information, sketches, and samples he gathered from the Galapagos Islands, which insipired him.
  • Darwin marries his cousin, Emma Wedgwood.

    On January 29, Charles Darwin is married to his cousin, Emma Wedgwood. Afterward they take a train to London, to their new home. Darwin and Wedgwood have 2 kids, and Darwin starts a natural history of babies, where he recorded babies behaviours and movements since birth. They eventually have 10 kids, but only 7 make it to adulthood.
  • The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

    The treaty of 1848, or "Guadalupe Hidalgo" was the peace treaty between the U.S and Mexico, ending the Mexican-American war, from 1846 to 1848. The treaty involved the U.S paying $15 million dollars to Mexico, in exchange for the ownership of California, Rio Grande, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Wyoming and Colorado.

    Darwin and Wallace's theory

    Darwin is contacted by a naturalist, Alfred Russel Wallace, in Indonesia, who has also came up with an idea of natural selection similar to Darwin's. On July 1st, 1858, Darwin's and Wallace's theories are shown to teh Linnaean Society. Darwin, was unable to attend, because a funeral for his son was on the same day. On November 24, 1859, Darwin publishes "On the Origin of Species"

    In 1867, the United States purchased Alaska, from Russia, for $7.2 million dollars.
  • Yellowstone National Park

    On March 1st, 1872, Yellowstone National Park was established by congress, and became the first National Park in the world. The park is located in Wyoming, but extends into Montana and Idaho.
  • Birth of Joseph Stalin

    Birth of Joseph Stalin
    Joseph Stalin, was born on December 18, 1878, in the town of Gori, Tiflis, Georgia. Stalin was a fourth child, the three before him died in infancy.
  • The death of Charles Darwin

    On April 19, 1882, Darwin died after being diagnosed with "Angina Pectoris" which meant a heart disease. Darwin's last words were to his family, telling his wife, "I am not the least afraid of death. Remember what a good wife you have been to me." He was buried at Westminster Abbey, and was attended by England’s leading politicians, scientists, and clergy.
