The Ku Klux Klan bombs home of NAACP founders and kills them on Christmas Eve. Harry T. Moore dies minutes later in an ambulance while his wife, Harriette, dies 01/03/52. No investigations of the bombings were conducted until 2005-06 which named 4 KKK members involved in the murder. -
The Rise of Elvis Presley
Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll", or "the King". Elvis's career began at the age of 13 when he relocated to Tennessee and recorded his first song with Sun Records. Elvis was also drafted into the military to serve in the Vietnam War in the middle of his career. He served from March 1958 to March 1960. -

JFK was elected as the 35th president on January 21, 1961. Civil rights was bustling during Kennedy's time in office. JFK's presidency is more famed for the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 than his civil rights efforts. Conspiracy theorists believe Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 in consequence for his veto of Operation Northwoods. The CIA is believed to have connections in the murder of President Kennedy, although official reports have different statements.

Don't Be A Menace to Governor Wallace While Trying to Integrate Schools
Governor George Wallace served four terms as Governor of Alabama from 1962-82. He tried to stop a black couple from entering the University of Alabama in 1963, a time in which integration was being forced on the southern states. While at a rally in Maryland, Governor Wallace is shot by Arthur Bremer, which put his political advances in Alabama at a halt. Wallace died in 1998, only two years shy of the new millennium. -

The Vietnam War was considered one of the first losses the US has ever took. The war was between Communist North Vietnam, with the Viet Cong as their allies; and Democratic South Vietnam with their primary allies as the United States. Militarily, the US didn't lose the war however; over 500,000 personnel were involved.. eventually taking a toll on the US citizens at home. The Vietnam War ended with President Nixon ordering US troops out of Vietnam, enabling North Vietnam to invade South Vietnam. -
Martin Luther: Civil Rights Trooper
MLK Jr. was a civil rights activist in the 60's who pioneered injustice protests with the help of his more radical counterpart, Malcolm X. MLK was seen as a nuisance negro to the Caucasian community, resulting in his 29 arrests including driving 5 miles over the speed limit and civil disobedience. MLK was murdered in Memphis on April of 1968 by James Ray; however a civil trial concluded that he did not act alone in the murder, and was helped by government officials. http://tinyurl.com/l5md66h -

The Black Panthers was founded in 1966 in Oakland, California, and became a group whose original purpose was to patrol African American neighborhoods to protect residents from acts of police brutality. -

Bell Biv Devoe was a group that branched off of New Edition and included members Ricky Bell, Michael Bevins, and Ronnie DeVoe. They released songs like "When Will I See You Smile Again?", "She's Dope", and "Poison." Poison has been used in at least 5 films, multiple tv shows and movies, as well as video games (2004 Grand Theft Auto, DJ Hero) and more. The group introduced male sex appeal as well as showcased the up and coming new jack swing introduced by Teddy Riley.
