North Korea Crosses 38th ParallelOn June 25th, North Korea cross the 38th parallel and invades South Korea. This is the starte of the Korean War.

Inchon InvasionThis attack was used as a tactic to eventually cut off supplies to the North Korean People's Army. Without supplies, the army cannot fucntion.

On February 20nd, Operation Killer started. Operation Killer was carried out by United Nations troops and was a fullscale attack on the Chinese Army to regain territory.

On July 11th, the United States conducted an air attack on the Pyongyang Air Base. This is important because the air base was home to a lot of imporatnt air crafts.

In March on 1953, an armstice was signed to re-establish the seperation of North and South Korea. This was due to all the previous conflicts that had occured.

SputnikOn October 4, Sputnik was launched into the Earth's atmosphere by Russia. The launch of Sputnik surprised Americans and intensified the space race.

First SatelliteThe first sattelite ever, Explorer 1, is sent into space by the U.S. It was the first U.S. sattelite to make it to space.

On August 18, the US launches their first spy sattelite, the Discovery XIV. This sattelite even had a camera on it.

In April of 1961, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin orbited the Earth for the first time. He orbited in a capsule shaped spacecraft called Vostok.

The purpose of operation Ranchhand was to clear vegetation on the side of Vietnamese highways. This would make it harder for Vietcong to hide for ambushes.

Pres. DiemOn November 2, President Ngo Dinh Diem is arrested and assassinated by soldiers in South Vietnam. The day before, South Vietnam's government was overthrown, so this was an effect of that.

The lead engineer of the Soviet space program, Sergey Korolyov, dies unexpectedly. This was a major setback for their space progam, which wasn't such a bad thig for the U.S.

Last FootageIn January of 1967, three astronauts got killed in a freak accident during a launch stimulation. Their spacecraft caught fire and killed all of them.

Tet Offensive Surprises AmericansHuge attacked launched on the Vietnamese New Year (Tet). This brought the US a lot of bad press and eventually led to them pulling out of the war.

3,500 Marines landed on the China Beach to help protect and defend the American airbase already stationed there.

Apollo 11Astronauts Michael Collins, Edwin Alrdin, and Neil Armstrong are set off on the Apollo 11 space mission. They are attempting to be the first lunar landing mission, and they are successful. July 20 is the day when Neil Armstrong takes the first step on the moon.

South Vietnam/CambodiaSouth Vietnamese troops attack Cambodia and advance closer to Vietcong bases. A few days later, US troops advance in and conduct a second invasion.
