    Magna Carta

    The Great Charter approved by King John of England. It limited royal power and established certain rightts of English freemen
  • Petition of right

    It's an important constitutional document for the English. It defines the rights and liberties of the king's people and the king cannot infring on these set rights.
  • English Bill of Rights

    series of acts passed by the English Parliament . It limited the rights of the monarchy and ensured the superiority of Parliament
  • English Bill of Rights

    an English statute of 1689 confirming, with minor changes, the Declaration of Rights, declaring the rights and liberties of the subjects and settling the succession in William III and Mary II.

  • Albany plan of union

    It was a plan/proposal to create a sinlge government across all 13 states. Benjamin Franklin originally propsed the idea.
  • Boston Massacre

    It was the murder of at least 5 colony citizens by British. It wa triggered by a snowball fight of the "patriots"
  • Boston Tea Party

    A protest that derived itself from the growing oppression of the British. A small amount of colonists started attacking merchant ships from the British while they were still in the Harbour
  • First Continental Congress

    A meeting that hosted 12 of the 13 delegates. They met in Carpenter's Hall in Pennsylvania.
  • Second Continental Congress

    This was a meeting of all the delegates for each colony. This occured very shortly after the revolutionary war had started. It also occured in Pennsylvania
  • Declaration of Independance

    This document was key in establishing the U.S. as a country and nation. It was approved by the Continental Congress and the majority of it was written by Thomas Jefferson.
  • Articles of Confederation

    Congress had adopter the Articles of Confederation as the original constituition. All the 13 states didn't adopt this until 1781, however
  • Shay's Rebellion

    Daniel Shays, a former militia officer, led an uprising in Massachutsetts. His followers protested debt and foreclosures of farms. They briefly shut down the court system.
  • Philadelphia Convention

    It was a meeting in which the U.S ' constitution was first created. Every state was invited to send a delegate. It was the first attempt at designing the U.S. government
  • New Jersey Plan

    Also known as the Small State Plan, it was a proposal of the U.S. government structure. It was presented on June 15th by William Paterson.
  • Virginia Plan

    This plan was proposed by Virginian delegates. They wanted a bicameral legislative branch. It was written out by James Madison. He waited to assemble in 1787 for a Constiitutional Convention
