  • Stono Rebellion

    Catholic governor of Florida promised freedom to fugitive slaves, but did not follow through. As a result the Native American slave population rose up against the white population.
  • The French and Indian War

    A war fought by Britain against the French and their Native American allies, part of the conflict known in Europe as the Seven Years' War. Britain emerging victorious.
  • Rule of 1756

    Ships of neutral countries could not trade with ports in which they
    had been excluded before the war Impressment.

  • Revenue Act

    This act created Board of Customs and Commissioners
  • Boston Massacre,

    On a cold winter day some British soldiers were patrolling streets. Shots were fired and when the smoke cleared, five Bostonians and two boys laid dead. An interesting fact is that John Adams represented soldiers.
  • Tea Act

    This act was not enacted to generate revenue, but it
    Proposed to give monopoly to East India Company on direct
    sales to the colonies. This did not boycott instead it destroyed tea and it was sent back to England.
  • Pennsylvania Constitution of 1776

    Abolished property ownership as tests of citizenship. It also protected citizens from imprisonment for debt.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    General Horatio Gates jumps on Burgoyne at Saratoga. This was fought between the Kingdom of Great Britain and its thirteen colonies in North America during the American Revolutionary War. In the end, Britain surrendered.
  • Shay’s Rebellion

    Demanded property taxes to be reduced. This was a revolutionary war consisting of four thousand rebels in an uprising against economic and civil rights injustices.
  • James Monroe opposed ratification

    He was a popular choice to be president after Madison and was
    respected by fellow countrymen.
  • Call of convention in Philadelphia

    55 delegates came together to create a government from scratch.
  • Judiciary Act of 1789

    This established a federal judiciary system, Federal District Court, and Circuit Court.

    Hamilton’s whiskey tax is a burden on western farmers, so Pennsylvania adopted protest methods from Revolutionary War
    and Shay’s Rebellion as a way to protest the tax.
  • Election of 1796

    Between John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Aaron Burr, Thomas Pinckney, John Adams barely won presidency. Thomas Jefferson became Vice President.
