  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 created the Proclamation line that borders the colonists from going and living in French territory. The line prohibited the colonist from traveling west to the Appalachian Mountains. Colonists reacted in anger as it kept them under British control.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was an act that taxed more foreign goods including sugar, wines, coffee, pimiento, cambric, and calico. It also regulated the exports of lumber and iron. This act upset the colonists because it restricted their justice and their freedom of trading because it required them to pay taxes over their importations.
  • Currency Act

    The currency act was an act that the Parliament passed to establish control over the colonial currency system, New bills and the reissue of existing currency were prohibited. The colonists were angered by this act and protested against it.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act made it so that it was required for the colonist to pay taxes on stamp products which included paper, legal documents, and playing cards. The colonist reacted by boycotting British goods and rioting which included attacks on the tax collectors.
  • Quartering Act 1765

    Quartering Act 1765
    The Quartering Act of 1765 made it so the colonist had to let British soldiers into their homes. Also, the localities had to provide the soldiers a place to stay in local inns, livery stables, and any place that could work as a home. If the soldiers still didn't have somewhere to stay they kicked the colonist out of their homes. The colonist was angry as they had to house the soldiers and had pay taxes.

    The Declaratory Act was an act that the British made to assert their authority over the American colonist. It stated that the Parlement could make laws over the American colonies and that the taxing authority was the same in the British Parlement in America. The colonist reacted in anger and protested and rioted against the Parlement.

    The Townshend Act included a series of four acts that taxed the colonists for goods imported to America. The British passed it as a sign of authority over the Americans. The colonists were angered by the act because the act created injustice of taxation. There were widespread protests within America over the act.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a street fight between the British and the colonist which started because the patriot mob was throwing stones and sticks at the British soldiers. It led to many colonists being killed. The colonists were anger and frighten because it showed that the British were not afraid of using violence against them.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea party was a protest by the colonists that was resulted in the British regulating "taxation without representation." The colonists dumped 342 chests of tea into the sea that were imported by the British East India Company. The colonists responded by unifying against British rule. They started more protests and resistance against them.
  • Quartering Act 1774

    The Quartering Act of 1774 was an act that gave royal governors the right to find shelter in the colonists for British soldiers. The colonists disliked the act but were not provoked to act against it.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts was a group of laws that punished the colonists for their defiance which included the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act. The colonists responded by uniting against the British with the First Continental Congress. They made treaties, resolves, and pamphlets that spread across America about the Intolerable Acts.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    The Quebec Act was an act that granted Quebec more legal rights through laws passed by the British Parliament. It created a Roman Catholic colony in the British Empire. The colonists were upset about the act because it broke the loyalty oath. They were upset over the fact that it gave the British increased control over more land which induced feelings of fear over Parliamentary supremacy.
