    Jamestown became the first stable North America settlement for England. Smith was one of the 105 settlers that sailed to North America from Britain. Smith became one of the leaders of the colony and some of his duties included hunting and exploration of Virginia's terrain.

    The Revolutionary War started due to tensions between Britain & the 13 colonies. Britain enforced acts like the Stamp act, Coercive Acts, Tea Act, Townshend tariffs, & Quartering Act. Britain used these acts to get the colonies to pay taxes without representation that the citizens were paying them. Britain soldiers were allowed to stay in colonists' homes and colonists had to abide to the soldiers needs with the use of the Quartering Act. The colonies felt the need to take further action in war.

    Congress had 69 members that cast their votes on George Washington. Washington had experience in being the leader of the Continental Army and a chairman on the Continental Congress. Washington was fearful of commanding a fragile country in early years of a war and he knew that he was becoming old quickly. The nation had earned his trust and appreciation from him leading the Continental Army.

South Carolina seceded because they did not believe in the North's ideas of not having slavery. Fort Sumter was an attack on the Union early in the morning. Robert Anderson, a union garrison commander, surrendered because of his low supplies and loss of many men.
