The British Army set out from Boston to capture rebel leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock in Lexington. American victory British forces destroyed cannon and supplies in Concord Militia and successfully drove the British back to Boston Start of the Revolutionary War. it was important because the shot heard round the world, marked the start of the American War of Independence.

The Battle of Trenton was a small American Revolutionary War battle on the morning of December 26 1776 in Trenton New Jersey. After crossing the Delaware River in a storm, George Washington's army defeated a garrison of Hessian mercenaries at Trenton. John Cadwalader launched an attack against the British at Bordentown, New Jersey, to block off reinforcements from the south. After the battle, almost two thirds of the Hessian force were captured, with negligible losses to the Americans.

The Philadelphia campaign was a British effort in the American Revolutionary War to gain control of Philadelphia. the British overtook the American capital city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. the Philadelphia campaign convinced France that the Americans were worthy allies. Philadelphia's Independence Hall was host to the Continental Congress. It too was where the Declaration of Independence was signed. British strategy called for attack on New York, with three armies converging near Albany.

The Battle of Saratoga was a turning point in the Revolutionary War. The American defeat of the superior British army lifted patriot morale, furthered the hope for independence, and helped to secure the foreign support needed to win the war. They decimated Burgoyne's troops and cut off supply routes. it was a major American victory, one that assured criticial international recognition and aid and helped secure the independence of the United States.

On December 19th, 1777, 12,000 soldiers and 400 women and children marched into Valley Forge and began to build what essentially became the fourth largest city in the colonies at the time. Washington and his army hunkered down for a harsh winter at Valley Forge. No battle was fought there.
