The invention of Writing
The invention of writing took place in Mesopotamia, with the formation of the first civilisations. According to experts, it was invented around 3000 BC for administrative needs in the cities. Why did I choose it?
I have chosen this as the first progress in communication because the invention of writing was something that revolutionised the world. Writing helped us to understand each other and to spread information. Without it I would not be typing now. -

Homing Pigeons
There are different versions of where the first carrier pigeon was used, but the most reliable version suggests that the Egyptians and the Greeks used them simultaneously, the Greeks to announce the winner of the Olympic Games and the Egyptians to announce the advent of Pharaoh Ramses III. It was also used to communicate in major wars. -

The invention of Printing
In 1440 the printing press was invented, a machine capable of reproducing text and images on paper, vellum, cloth or other material. Its inventor was Johannes Gutenberg, after years of dispute between the French, Dutch and Italians. The printing press made possible the multiplication of texts when making books was forbidden, it revolutionised culture, people could now learn to read and learn more about life. -
The invention of Telegraph
The telegraph was used for long-distance communication. Its inventor was Joseph Henry, but it was Samuel Morse who invented the Morse Code, the form of communication by telegraph. -
The invention of Fax
The inventor of this machine was the Swedish watchmaker Alexander Bain. The machine was patented in 1843. It was mainly used to transmit images, the machine scanned line by line a message written with special ink on a metal surface. -
Pony Express
The Pony Express was a fast mail service across the United States. Alexander Majors, William B. Waddell, William Hepburn Russell were the founders. It was in operation from April 1860 to November 1861. Messages were carried on horseback across prairies, plains, deserts and mountains. -
The Typewriter
The first FUNCTIONAL typewriter was built by Christopher Sholes in 1868. It was the first to be marketed with the "QWERTY" keyboard, the one we use today. It made it possible to replace the slow copyists and gave a more official and impersonal character to commercial and political writings. -
The first Telephone
Alexander Bell together with Elisha Gray are considered the inventors of the telephone. It was a machine that transmitted sounds over a wire through electrical signals. Bell received the patent on 10 March 1876. His creation is considered one of the most important inventions in history. -
The Radio
Guillermo Marconi is the father of radio. In 1904 he received the patent for the invention of the device and in 1909 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics. The radio evolved human communications forever and enabled the development of the next technologies. -
The first Television
Engineer John Logie Baird invented the first commercial television after many attempts. It began to be marketed on 26 January 1926. -
The first Computer
The ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer) was the first general purpose computer. Its inventors were John William and John Presper in 1943. The heavy device was used to solve a wide range of numerical problems. -
The invention of Internet
In 1969, the United States created a military-only network so that information could be accessed from anywhere in the country. This network was called ARPANET. In 1991 the global internet became public www (World Wide Web). -
The invention of Email
1971 is the year that the first appearance of electronic mail took place, with the sending of the first 'email'. It was the American engineer Roy Tomlinson who invented, working on sending messages to other computers on the ARPANET, one of the most popular forms of communication today. -
The creation of Windows
In 1985, Microsoft released the first version of Windows. Bill Gates and his small team were the creators of this operating system, which now a days is one of the most important operating systems on the planet. It was used on IBM PCs and compatibles. -
The firts Social Media
SixDegrees is considered the first social network. It was created in 1997 by Andrew Weinreich. This network made it possible to put friends in contact with each other, grouping them according to the degree of relationship they had, so that they could interact by sending messages. -
5G
In 2020, 5G, the fifth generation of mobile phone technologies, is coming. It will provide us with more devices connected simultaneously to the network and will improve data transmission speeds by enabling fast downloads
Why did I choose it?
I have chosen 5G as the latest advancement in human communication because it is a breakthrough in technology. 5G will allow us to navigate at higher speeds and easily handle a considerable amount of data, which will be very useful in the jobs of the future.
