    On July 18,1922 in Cincinati, Ohio a child was born to an MIT graduate Samuel Louis Kuhn and his wife a New York socialite Minnette Strook, Kuhn who was a graduate of Vasser College. Thomas Kuhn would be one of the most influential people of the twentieth century. History of Philolosophy credits Kuhn's book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions as the book that changed the world.     Education

    The Kuhn family moed to Manhattan soon after Tom was born. At age five his mother enrolled him in a private school, Lincoln the first of many where he attended till the family moved again to Croton on the Hudson when he was in the fifth grade where he went to another private school HessianHills he left in nineth grade. Attended Soleberry untill1enrolled in a private boarding school Taft in Connecticut where he graduated in 1940.

    Thomas Samuel Kuhn was accepted into Harvard. 1940. This was also the school his father went to and his first choice.Tom graduated with a B.S. in physics in 1943. In 1946 he got his Masers degree and in 1949 he got his doctorial degree also from Harvard.

    After Graduating Harvard

    With a clear vison of where he wanted to go and what he wanted to do. He was given a professorship at Harvard Jounior Fellow and switched from physics to history and philosophy of science. He taught history at Harvard from the years 1948- 1956. He left Harvard to go to Berkley where he taught in both history dept. and philosophy dept .He was given a professor of history of science in 1961. While teaching at Berkley he finished The Structure of Scientific Revolution in 1962

    Beyond the Revalution 1962-1995

    After the Structure of Scientific Revolution gained popularity it had a second printing in 1970. As his Paradigm shift was shaking things up Kuhn's book was widely debated as it stirred many philosophers up. Kuhn became a sort of enemy to science. The fact he held a degree in Physics and not philosophy was of great concern. He went on to write more books and continued to teach and lecture for many years. None of the work after Structure had such an impact of change

    Last years 1970-1996

    kuhn influenced students ay many universities from Harvared to Princeton where he had been the M taylor Pyne Professor of History and science. He left in 1979 to MiT where he taught linguistics and language in philosophy. In 1982 he became the Rockafeller Professor of philosophy at Mit until he retired. In 1996 ill from lung cancer Thomas Samuel Kuhn died at his home in Cambridge on June 17,1996 he was 73. He is survived by his first and second wife and three children.
