    Daniel Morgan led a group of Virginia riflemen called “Morgan’s Riflemen” against the British army on the Siege of Boston. Later On Morgan was asked to assist Benedict Arnold in the invasion of Canada because of success at the Siege of Boston.

    Samuel Adams was The organizer of Boston’s Sons of Liberty. He made Boston Committee of Correspondence and started Boston’s resistance to the tea act. This resulted in the Boston Tea party.

    Patrick Henry was more than just a delegate , he was a very successful politician. He was a delegate to the Virginia Provincial Convention and was a member of the Continental Congress from 1774-1776.

    Paul Revere is famous in American history for the "midnight ride"when he sounded the alarm that British forces were moving against American colonists.He was a rider for the Committee of Correspondence. Revere sent messages about British troop movements from Boston to Philadelphia, New York and Hartford .

    . On May 10, 1775, Benedict Arnold helped Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont in an attack on the fort, capturing the British garrison. Although it was a small conflict, the Battle of Fort Ticonderoga was the first American victory of the Revolutionary War, and would give the Continental Army much-needed weapons to be used in future battles.

    In September of 1775 while Allen was attempting to takeover the city of Montreal, and Canada for the American Colonolists, Allen was captured by the British Royal Navy. In 1778 he was released and returned to land owned by New York. After his release by the British, Allen worked hard to help establish the eventual state of Vermont and even considered an offer from the British to make Vermont a separate British province.

    Henry Knox
    Knox voluntarily fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill and served under General Ward. He also met General George Washington. Washington had taken over command of the Continental Army. Henry Knox and Washington soon became friends because of their shared interest and knowledge of military history and artillery. General Washington decided to make Henry Knox a colonel in command of the Continental Army’s artillery division.

    On January 10 1776 Thomas Paine published Common Sense. A pamphlet on independece that would shock the colonists against the British and that would greatly influence the Declaration of Independence. "Common Sense" quickly spread through the colony’s population and became the voice of the pro-independence colonies.

    George Mason created the document – The Virginia Declaration of Rights. The document declares the respect of individual rights and stated every freeman’s right for life, liberty, happiness, and safety. Mason’s words inspired officials in other colonies, who quickly penned similar declarations for their states.

    The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson, It was taken in by the Second Continential Congress. The Declaration of Indepence states that the thirteen colonies were independent, and free from British rule. The declaration was written because of the war and violence between the Americans and the British. The Americans were simply fighting for their rights and freedom. It was accepted on July 4th 1776. Now known as American Independence Day.

  • Battle of Lake Champlain

    During the American Revolution, Sir Guy Carleton and his British army took down 15 American gunboats under the command of Benedict Arnold at the Battle of Lake Champlain,even though almost all of Arnold’s ship were destroyed, it took more than two days for the British to defeat the Patriot naval force, slowing down Carleton’s campaign and giving the Patriot ground forces time to prepare a critical defense of New York.

He was introduced to General George Washington who appointed him to his personal staff with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He became Washington’s secretary and put together pivotal intelligence at the Battle of Monmouth.

    Robert Morris came up with the idea to create a national bank. His plan was approved by the Congress and it became the Bank of North America, which stabilized the new nation’s bad economy and helped create American credit with European nations.

    The treaty of Paris was signed by John Adams on September 3rd 1783.It ended the American Revolution. This made the 13 colonies of Britain free and independent, this made the United States a sovereign country.

    Martha Washington followed her husband during the Revolutionary War. Women who followed their husbands to camps during the Revolutionary War were known as “Camp Followers”. These women kept up the spirits of the Continental soldiers, as well as to assist in battle and tend to the wounded soldiers. Martha was unhappy that her husband had agreed to become America’s first president. She refused to attend his inauguration because she wanted to live a private life at Mt. Vernon.

    Washington proved himself an excellent leader, he won many battles during the Revolution. Washington also helped to create the plan that eventually resulted in the defeat of the British army at Yorktown, Virginia and the British surrender. As an advocate of a federal government, Washington became chairman of the Constitutional Convention and helped in getting the Constitution ratified. He was chosen as America’s first president after refusing to be made as king.

    Henry Clinton was a British general in the American Revolution. Clinton wanted to take over New York. He rerouted George Washingtons Army and his plan succeeded.
