  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This act hurt the British and West Indies market in molasses, sugar, and the market for rum. Which were being produced in quantity with the cheaper French molasses.The Sugar Act reduced the rate of tax on molasses from six pence to three pence per gallon. This Act was passed because it raised colonial money for the crown. Duties on non-British items were sent to the colonies that were raised under the act.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The British Parliament eventually passed the Duties in American Colonies Act, also known as the Stamp Act, on March 22, 1765. For any printed page that a colonist used, taxes had to be paid. People who refused the act could be prosecuted in court, which had no juries and could be held anywhere in the British Empire. On November 1, 1765 the stamp act starts to effect in the colonies.

    The Townsend acts were a series of taxes imposed by Britain on the american colonies. it arranged the colonist because they felt it violated their rights. The boycotts and protests led them to the American Revolution. They believed in " no taxation without representation" which meant they didn't want to be taxed by a government that they had no say. This act was an important role in the revolutionary among the colonist.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a major event that contributed to the American Revolution. It was a group of colonists, disguised as Native Americans, boarded British ships in Boston Harbor and dumped chests of tea into the water. This protest was caused from the Tea Act, which later on granted a monopoly to the British east India company and imposed taxes on tea. they saw this as an example of unfair taxation.

    this event took place in 1770, when British soldiers went into a crowd of colonists in Boston, which eventually lead to deaths of several people. this was cause of rage among the colonist. it became a show of British oppression and lack of representation for the colonists. this played a role in later on uniting the colonists in their fight for independence and was a cry for the revolution.

    This Act was a list of laws imposed by the British government on the american colonies in response to the Boston tea party. they took these acts as if they were direct attacks on colonial rights and self governance. these acts united the colonists in their opposition after intensifying colonial resentment towards British rule.

    Quebec Act
    This act was passed in 1775 and it extended the boundaries of Quebec, which made some american colonists worried about their own land. they saw it as a threat to their rights. This was one of the reason that caused tensions between Britain and the american colonies.
