    When the Canadian government was making Treaty 8 to give land to the First Nations people the Lubicon Cree were overlooked for a spot in that treaty. They continue, to this day, to try to get themselves into that treaty.

    In 1952 oil was discovered in the area where the lubicon tradtionally hunted, fished, and trapped.

    Isreal and other Arab nations break out into war. It became known as the Yom Kippur War. The United States and many European countries support Isreal and many Middle Eastern countries stop supplying oil to the US and Europe.

    When the Middle East stopped supple the US with oil, the price of it quadrupled and the US started looking to Canada to fill in thier demands. Since oil was found under the Lubicon territory it suddenly became very valuable.
  • Albertan Government grants logging rights.

    The Alberta government grants logging rightrs to the paper company set up in the Lubicon territory. the Log 30,000 square kilometres.
