    In 1935, Hitler began ignoring the Treaty of Versailles. He started to build up the military in Germany.

    Hitler wanted to expand the country with the help of the german speaking people. Hitler sent troops to Austria in order to "unify" the two countries.
  • Czechoslovakia

    Hitler wanted to next invade Czechoslovakia, Czechs refuse to let Hitler in and threaten to fight against Germany
  • Munich Conference

    Munich Conference
    Britain and France appeased with Hitler and gave him what he wanted in order to avoid war. Appeasement failed and in March 29th, 1939, Germany sent troops and divided the country,
  • Danzig

    Danzig
    Hitler wanted Danzig to go back under German control. Poland wanted to refuse, and had France and Britain to aid if a war has started. In may, Hitler began to prepare his army for invasion.

    Hitler and Stalin agreed on a nonagression treaty. This prevented Russia from going to war, and it also said that Poland would be divided between the two countries.

    German troops invaded Poland, causing Britain and France to declare war on Germany.

    Germany's massive tanks and "lighting war" tactics defeat Poland's war horses. By October 5th, 1939, German victory was obvious.

    Poland gets defeated by Germany, This puts Poland under control of Hitler.

    Western Eurpoe remained pretty neutral. France and Britain sent troops, waiting for Germany's attack.
  • Invasion of France

    Invasion of France
    French build a line of concrete walls called the Maginot Line in order to defend itself. ML failed because it allowed Germany to attack Poland, and because Hitler sent his troops around the conrete barriers. Germany attacked from the North, then sent troops in from all over and through the mountains.
  • Evacuation of Dunkirk

    Evacuation of Dunkirk
    Germany pushed France and Britain towards the English Channel. They had taken over all France except one port; Dunkirk. Hitler called for a stop of the troops, This became known as the "miracle of Dinkirk." Britain and France had three days to evacuate troops.
  • French Surrender

    After safely evacuating a number of troops, France surrendered the rest of what it had, Dunkirk, to Germany, who accepted the nonviolent overtake in return.
  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    Britain refused to surrender to Germany. Germany started invasion by trying to defeat the British Air Force, causing Britain to unleash in an all out war. Both countries bombed eachother, but Britain had radars, causing Germany to cancel the next invasion.
