The 7 Years' War has ended and the British gained a bunch of land from the French due to the Treaty of Paris.
However, the lands given to the British had Native territories, and the Natives made an attempt to stop the British from approaching. An instance of this was Pontiac's Uprising, in which a bunch of Native Americans from different tribes united to stop the British from expanding West. The British then stopped approaching the West and created the Proclamation Line of 1763. -
To avoid conflict with the Natives, the British prevented the colonists from spreading to the West. They did this by creating the Proclamation Line. This angered the colonists and they felt like the English were too strict. This is an early instance of the colonists wanting more freedom and resenting the British.

After the 7 Years' War ended, the British were in debt. To gain money, the British decided to tax the colonists. Then, the British implemented these acts to tax the colonies. The colonies became angry, because they thought it was unfair to tax them. Even Boston boycotted British goods. The colonists were doing what they can to not being treated unfairly. The British answered by sending troops to Boston (later causing the Boston Massacre).

British soldiers had come to Boston to stay in people's houses, and the colonists did no like that. Conflict between colonist protesters and British soldiers started to become more dangerous and then led to some dead colonists. The Boston Massacre made the colonists furious. The result had made the colonies more united and against Great Britain.

Due to the aftermath of the 7 Year's War mentioned earlier, The British were in debt. To deal with the debt, the British implemented tax policies for multiple things, such as tea. These tax policies were basically unfair to the colonies, so people from the colonies infiltrated British ships and tossed tea into the ocean. This instance showed how people started taking the initiative of showing the British that they can't treat the colonists unfairly.

The British noticed that Boston was being problematic, due to the Boston Massacre and Tea Party. To punish Boston, the British implemented some acts that would isolate Boston from the rest of the colonies. The British thought that Boston was at fault for turning the colonies against Britain. The acts ended up doing the opposite thing: The colonies united together to create the First Continental Congress to find ways to strike the British.

The declaration basically stated that the colonists were free from British control and they could do whatever they wanted. This was a symbol of freedom and independence. With this, the colonists became their own independent nation. Later on, they formed the United States of America.
