The Stamp Act was passed to gain money to pay off the massive debt left over from the war with France. The Parliament taxed throughout a wide range, this upset the people.

The Parliament passed the Townshend act in hopes to assert authority. They put taxes on the goods that America imported from Great Britain. This caused the Americans to form a boycott. -
A disagreement between a wigmaker and a British soldier led to British soldiers firing into a crowd. Three ended up dead and two were mortally wounded. From then on the colonists used this as a propaganda tool. -
The British enacted a new law known as the Tea act, just like all the other acts, the Americans didn't like this. A radical group known as the Sons of Liberty took action. They boarded 3 British ships and dumped over 92,000 pounds of tea into the harbor.

The British passed the Coercive which closed Boston harbor until the destroyed tea was paid for. They did this in response to the Boston Tea Party.
