  • The Navigation Acts

    Regulated trade between Europe and the colonies so that England only benefited from colonial trade (passed by Parliament). Colonists were being treated as inferiors and didn't like it.
  • The French and Indian War

    War between French and English over control of Ohio River Valley. English win and raise taxes to pay for war expenses and sent troops to enforce the line on the App. Mountains.
  • Pontiac's War

    Pontiac is Ottowa cheif who attacked English settlements. After P's war, the Proclomation of 1763 is created
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Didn't allow settlers to pass App. Mountains
  • The Stamp Act

    Stamp Act taxed legal documents such as wills, marriage papers, diplomas, newspapers, playing cards, etc.
  • The Sugar Act

    Taxed sugar and molasses
  • The Townshend Acts

    Taxed goods manufactured in Britain such as tea, paper, lead, glass, textiles, etc. Also a new way to collect taxes.
  • Stamp Act Repealed

  • British troops arrive in Boston

  • The Boston Massacre

    Colonists stood outside Boston customs department and protested. Crowd grew and soldiers panicked and shot and killed five protesters
  • Townshend Acts Repealed
