  • Sugar Act

    Great Britian put a tax on all molasses and sugar bought and sold in American to help pay for the French and Indian War.
  • Stamp Act

    Great Britian passed a law against America that put a tax on legal documents, newspapers, pamphlets, and playing cards.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Ships from Britian loaded with taxed tea arrived in the Boston harbor. In protest when the ships didn't leave, the colonists dressed like Natives and sunck aboard the ship and dumped 342 chest filled with tea into the harbor.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The members of Congress discussed their opinions about the United States of America and, once agreed apon, signed a written declaration of their independence from Britian, written by Thomas Jefferson.
  • Battle at Lexington and Concord

    700 British soldiers were given secret orders to capture and destroy a supplies storage area in Concord. The colonists had already gotten word and moved the storage just in case. The British came to seach and the colonist militia, outnumbered, ell back and attacked again at Lexington. The first shot of the battle and,the Revolutionary War, was called "the shot heard 'round the world"
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill took place on Breed's Hill. The patriots fought on the tops of the hill, fighting the British at the bottom. The British charged 3 times, and though the Patriots had the advantage of the top, they were over powered and the British won the battle.
  • Battle of Long Island

    The Patriots were trapped on the penninsula, surroungded my water, soldiers and were badly outnumbered. A storm in the evening caused the British troops to fall back at night and in the morning, during the storm, Washington and his militia slipped away into New Jersey.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The turning point of the Revolution. The first battle George Washignton's troops really won against the British forces. The British and Hessian troops surrenered after looseing most of their men to the Patriots.
  • Valley Forge

    Washington's winter quarters and training camp for soldiers. Many died of sickness and of the sheer brutalities of the wilderness.
  • Battle of Trenton

    Washington snuck up on the Hessians during the holidays and captured their base at Trenton.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    The last major battle in the Revolutionary War. The Patriots, joined by French troops, surrounded Yorktown by land and sea, where GerneralCornwalis' headquarters were. The British fought bck but in the end General Cornwallis surrendered his troops.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Great Britian signed a leagal document, accepting America's independance and giving leader ship of America to th Patriots.
