Levina Teerlinc- female artist from the Renaissance period.
Levina was a miniature painter during the Renaissance period in France. Not only was she a miniature painter, but so was her father. She actually worked for an English court at the time as the only female painter there. Interestingly enough and very surprising to learn about is that she was actually paid more than a male counterpart that she worked with, which seems like something almost unheard of for the time.
