    The movement of ideas about nature whcih gained prevalence in the 1700s. It helped conclude that individuals have natural rights to the colonies, which may lead tp question the authority's of the british monarchy.
  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
    It was a war against the British and the French over the rich Ohio River Valley. It led to a rebellion since the British started to control the French again.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The british governement issued this proclmation which banned all the settlements of the west side of the Applachians. No colonists could cross this line, but the British didnt enforce this ban anymore than the navigation acts.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    It envolved the duty on foreign made- molasses in hopes that the pay of a lower tax then smuggling, it placed duties on certain imports, and it strengthened the enforcement of law allowing prosecutors to try smuggles cases. By the end, colonies and Great Britain were disagreeing over how the colonies should be taxed and governed.

    It required colonists to purchase special stamped paper for every legal document,liscense,newspaper,pamphlet,and almanac and special 'stamp duties' on packages of playing cards and dice. It was in every colonial pocket, anyone that disobeyed the law were tried in the vice-admiralty court.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    It was a direct tax which duties levied on importated materials such as glass, lead, paint, and paper as they came into colonies in Britain, and also imposing three penny tax on tea. The colonists protested making there own clothing boycotting the British clothing, and exchanged recipes for tea made from birch bark and sage.

    A fist fight broke out over jobs, and that evening a mob gathered in front of the Customs House and taunted the guards, then Crispus Attucks and dockhands appeared on the scene, an armed clash erupted having the British attack defensless citizens.

    The east india company had problems with the tea with the British, and had people boycotting tea and selling it for free and without any taxes. A large group of Boston rebels dressed as 'Native Amercians' and dumped 18,000 pounds of tea into the water.

    Parliment repsonded by passing a seires of measures, since people refused to pay for the damaged tea, and soldiers were vacant to private homes and other buildings. Massachsuetts were set under martial law, ruled by military forces.

    General gage headed to concord after he sent agents to check out if they hsd stickoiles, which thry hid in bsrns, and builfings. Then he sent hs his men to Boston, the British high commander, was aware what was happening, and sent them to aware peeope of the British heading to Concord to destroy them.
