  • Harsh Working Conditions

    Woman of the working classes would usually be expected to go out to work often in mills or mines in the early 19th century there was restriction on the age of workers, this led to children as young as 8 or 9 being led to work 12 or more hours a day.
    Working conditions were often unsanitary and the work was dangerous
    If they were injured in the mills they would lose their jobs.
  • Assassination of James Garfield

    Reasons of assassin- Thought God had told to the president, he helped him win the election with a speech, formulated the delusion that the speech was a key factor in the presidents victory, asked to be rewarded with the consulship(chairman of the senate) in Paris Result, doctor kills president because they didn't wash their hands, this help create the pend lenton act.
  • The Populist Movement

    The populist movement was a revolt by farmers in the south and midwest against the democratic and republican parties for ignoring their interests and difficulties
    For over a decade farmers were suffering from crop failing, falling prices poor marketing, and lack of credit facilities
    The key platform to the populist party where unlimited coinage of silver to raise for prices and make loan repayment easier.
  • The Pendleton Act.

    Patronage System- is a practice after winning an election gives government civil service jobs to it's supporters, friends and realities.
    The Merit System- is the process of promoting and hiring government employees based on their ability to perform and not base on political connections.
    Pendleton Act was created in response to pres. Garfield's assassination and the civil service commission was created to put the acts into action and back them up.

  • Plessy V . Feguson

    Supreme court case upheld the constitutionality of segregation under the "Separation but Equal" doctrine. It stemmed from an 1892 incident in which African-American train passenger Homer Plessy refused to sit in a jim crow car, breaking a Louisiana Law.
    Allowed "separate but equal" also known as segregation, to become law in the U.S. jim crow laws, which were a system of laws meant to discriminate against African-American, spread across U.S.

  • The Klondike Gold Rush

    It was a migration by an estimate 100,00 set but only 30,000 arrived to the Klondike region of the Yukon in the northern western Canada between 1896 and 1889.
    Around 4,000 found gold, many gave up due to the difficulties of the journey and returned home some were not able to survive the extreme temperatures and died.
    The greatest economic impact prospectors passed through settlements and the money from supplies they purchased boosted the economy considerably.

    -The effect led the legal rights overturn the justice politics although they had a few cases over the years.
