The leading causes of the American Revolution

  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War happened because the Ohio River Valley was part of the British Empire and the French wanted it so they built a fort close to it, and later that was one of the reasons of the French and Indian War because they fought because they wanted the Ohio River Valley.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 made colonist not able to cross the Appalachian Mountains that was the border, because the British didn't want another war with the Indians. And they didn't want to be in more debt, because they were already in debt from the French and Indian War.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    British legislation wanted to end the smuggling of molasses and sugar to French and Dutch west Indies. And the British did that because they wanted the colonist to only buy tea and sugar from the British East Indian Company; and they did that because they wanted to colonist to pay taxes on it.

    The Stamp Act was when the colonist taxed the colonist for every stamp and paper product like paper, newspaper, magazine, cards, and etc. And it also increased more tension on the British government because the colonist were boycotting this act because they didn't want to buy any legal documents because they were taxing a lot the colonist from this act.

    The Quarter act was when the Colonist had to house and give shelter to the soldiers. They also had to feed them and wash their clothes. The Quartering act of 1765 was a decision from the King after the colonist didn't want to pay any taxes; and they needed a way to pay after the French and Indian War.

    The Boston Massacre was when the colonist was throwing stuff at the soldiers passing through the streets, and then some of the soldiers got mad at the colonist and they shot several people and several were killed during that day.

    The Tea Act was an act of the British Parliament, and it made colonist only buy tea from the British East India Company. And that angered the colonist. The King only wanted the colonist to buy the tea the British East India Company. After that law was made the colonist started to smuggle tea into the colonies and eventually the King found out.

    The Boston Tea Party was when the Sons of Liberty dressed up as Indians and they went to a Boston ship and they dropped all of the tea into the harbor. Which later caused the Intolerable Act. The leaders of the Sons of Liberty was Samuel Adams.

    Is a law that British did after the Boston Tea Party so that they could pay for all of the money they made the British loose. They also closed the Boston Harbor until all of the money lost from the tea gets payed back to the King.

    It was the first American Revolution war and it was also where the famous phrase of "shot around the world" happened in that war.
    No one knows who was the one who shot it first.

    The Olive Branch Petition was a petition to be sent to the King as a last attempt to prevent formal war from being declared. The Petition emphasized their loyalty to the British Crown. But the King didn't listened to any of their words because he thought that they were batraying him and he didn't like that. So afterwards war broke out even when the Colonies wanted Peace; the king wanted war.
