    When Japan invaded Korea in 1910, their colonism was harsh. They ruled everyone directly through military and ther colonism grew very rapidly. The Koreans would be forced to work in Japanese foctories and were also sent as soldiers.

    After D-Day, more war started to occur in Europe. Almost everyone involved in World War 2 wantd it to be over, even the citizens. Many became homeless, starved, and become refugees during the war. The Axis powers unconditionally surrendered and it was over.

    At first, U.S. officials just "drew" a line to divide North and South Korea. The capital, Seoul would stay under the United States power and control. The division was eventually made official on this date.

    North Korea started to push into South Korea to start attacking. When they invaded, South Korea started fighting back. They were not standing for North Korea to take over. The U.S. got involved and sent military assistance.

    The U.S. Marines suprised the Koreans by the amphibious landing. It ended up being a bloody stalemate and the UN recaptured Seoul.

    The UN and North Korea were involved in this war. This battle was on of the largest battles and it was the first major engagement at the start of the Korea War.

    When MacArthur marched into North Korea he called for them to surrender. They refused,. He also called for Chinese invaders to be defeated but North Korea also refused. Truman finally got them to surrender and he left there satisfied.

    This was the first major counter offensive made by the Chinese. This ended up being a heavy blow to the Japenese. During this, suppy difficulties started to occur. This affected the operation but the main goal was accomplished; cut down Japenese strenght in China.

    MacArthur was attacked by surprise and the Chinese were some excellent fighters. They couldn't allow the U.S. to retreat. South Korea has left a Syngman Rhee in the lurch.

    This was signed to have a temporary end to the war. The UN accepted India's proposed armistice as well. After it was signed, South Korea, North Korea, China, and the U.S. continued peace talks.

    Eisenhower wants to end the war so he promised that if he was elected for president, he would go over to Korea to see the issues first hand. He came back not too long after he left and the war still wasn't over.

    The armistice has now been signed officially. They decided to establish a commitee of representatives from nuetral countries to decide fate of the prisoners of war on both sides. Millions of Chinese and Koreans died and over 50,000 Americans were killed.
