Reaping Day. Katniss volunteers to take her sister's place as tribute. Katniss says goodbye to her family and friends and boards a train to the Capitol. Haymitch passes out drunk, and Peeta cleans him up and puts him to bed. Chapters 1-4

The train arrives at the Capitol. The opening ceremonies take place. Peeta and she wear flaming clothes that Cinna (their stylist) designed for them and make a good impression on the audience. Katniss meets the red-haired Avox and speaks with Peeta on the roof for the first time. Chapters 4-6

Training in the Capitol

The second day of group training. Peeta points out Rue to Katniss. They become friends Sat - 4 DPR
The third day of group training. Private sessions with the Gamemakers are held in the afternoon, and scores are announced that evening. Catniss gets an 11 out of 12 because of her bold move by shooting an arrow through an apple towards the game makers. Peter scores 8 out of 12 due to his strength

Katniss and Peeta are coached for their televised interviews. That night, Katniss apologizes to the Avox girl. Chapters 8-9

The televised interviews take place. Katniss speaks with Peeta on the roof for the second time. Peeta expresses his love towards Katniss and gets the majority of the audience to favour them since they are a couple. Chapters 9-10

The Hunger Games begin. That night, Katniss sees that Peeta has teamed up with the career tributes. Chapters 10-12

Katniss searches unsuccessfully for water and spends the night sleeping in a tree. Chapters 12

She wakes up due to a fire the gamemakers set off to force the tributes together. Her leg get burnt by a fireball. Katniss finds a pool and soothes her leg where she is found by the careers. She climbs a tree to escape the career tributes. With Rue's help, she plans to drop a nest of tracker jackers on them. Chapters 13-14

Katniss drops the tracker jacker nest on the careers and glimmer dies. She gets the bow and arrows before passing out. Peeta saves Katniss from Cato, the strongest career from district 2

Katniss is unconscious due to being stung 3 times by the tracker jackers. The passage of time is not at first clear during the narrative, as Katniss is unconscious after being stung by tracker jackers (wasp mutation). But when she forms an alliance with Rue, Rue informs her about how much time has passed.

Katniss forms an alliance with Rue. They start planning to attack the career tributes' food supply. Chapters 15-16

Katniss blows up the food, losing her hearing in the process. Chapters 16-17

Katniss regains hearing in one ear. Rue is killed. Katniss is sad and decorates Rues body with flowers. This starts a minor rebellion in district 11. Chapters 17-18

The Gamemakers announce that two tributes from the same district can win. Katniss tracks Peeta down down. chapters 18-19

Katniss finds Peeta who had camouflaged himself and treats his wounds. They spend the night in the cave. chapters 19-20

Peeta develops blood poisoning. The feast is announced that evening. Peter does not want Katniss to risk her life for his medicine which will be at the feast. Katniss tricks Peeta into drinking a sleeping medicine that Haymitch sent so that she could leave. Chapter 20-21

Sun - 19 DPR

Katniss goes to the feast. She is shot by clove with a knife and almost killed when Tresh (the boy from district 11) saves Katniss by killing Clove as payback for Katniss being kind to Rue. She gets medicine for Peeta and returns to the cave. She passes out right after she administers the wound she got from Cloves shot. Chapter 21

Mon - 20 DPR

Katniss and Peeta continue to wait in the cave during a rainstorm. Peeta tells her he's not sure how long she's been asleep since she was already sleeping when he woke up. However, he tells Katniss that he woke up "yesterday evening," and then later says that he saw Clove's picture in the sky that night, so that tells us he must have woken up the same day that Katniss returned to the cave, and Katniss awoke the following day. Chapter 22

Tue - 21 DPR

Katniss and Peeta are still stuck in the cave due to the rain. Katniss plays up their romance and is rewarded with a large meal from Haymitch. That evening, Katniss and Peeta discover that Thresh has died. Chapters 22-23

Wed - 22 DPR

Katniss and Peeta go hunting and find the poison berries. Foxface follows them, eats the berries Peeta picked and dies. Chapters 23-24

Thu - 23 DPR

Katniss and Peeta discover that the pools and streams have dried up, forcing them to the lake which is by Cato's camp. Katniss, Peeta, and Cato are left and are attacked by muts (mutations, that happen to be the other dead tributes). Peeta's leg is wounded by the mutation. Katniss and Peeta fight and win over Cato on top of the Cornucopia. However, when they win the rule that two tributes from the same district can win is withdrawn. They spend the night on the Cornucopia. Chapters 24-25

The Hunger Games end do to Katniss tricking the gamemakers that both will take suicide. Katniss is tranquilized. She sleeps on and off, unaware of how much time has passed. Chapters 25-26

Katniss wakes and her reunion with Peeta is televised to the nation. They attend the Victory Banquet. They are in danger due to upsetting President Snow and the gamemakers with their suicide trick. Chapters 26-27

Katniss and Peeta have their final televised interviews. They board the train for District 12. Katniss confesses her confused feelings to Peeta. Chapter 27

Katniss and Peeta arrive back in District 12. Chapter 27
