Founded
Guangzhou Restaurant was founded by Chen Xinghai in 1935, located on No.2 Wenchang South Road. And at the beginning, it got its name “Southwest Restaurant” for facing the southwest. At that time, Guangzhou Restaurant (former Southwest Restaurant) worked hard to create an image of "famous restaurant, famous chefs, and famous dishes."

Fire
In 1938, the Japanese army captured Guangzhou. At that time, the Southwestern Restaurant was burned down and the bustling was attributed to the ashes. The Guangzhou Restaurant faced the first crisis in its history. -
Reconstruction
In the winter of 1940, Chen Xinghai, Guan Lemin, Liao Bi and others raised funds to rebuild their businesses and took the meaning of "eating in Guangzhou" to rename Southwest Restaurant to Guangzhou Restaurant.

Shutdown
In 1949, the war came to an end and Guangzhou was heavily destroyed. Guangzhou Restaurant was forced to shut down for the second time. In addition, the rich who supported the consumption of Guangzhou Restaurants had gradually started to die out, and their target customers had been shrinking. It lost its roots of existence. -

Rapid development
In this period, ingredients in catering industry in Guangzhou were in short supply. However, on the one hand, Guangzhou Restaurant developed ingredients such as melons, vegetables, potatoes and other materials as substitutes for fillings, to ensure the mass supply; On the other hand, chefs of Guangzhou Restaurant studied cooking skills to create famous dishes for the " Canton Fair " supply. -
Reopened
With the strong support of the government, Cai Weihan and other shareholders initiated another fundraising and Guangzhou Restaurant resumed operations in February 1951. The target customer had also become numerous small and medium-sized business owners and ordinary working people. -
Undertake the first Canton Fair
With an outstanding reputation, Guangzhou restaurant had played an important role in the catering industry in Guangzhou. Since the first Canton Fair in 1957, Guangzhou restaurant had been designated as an external reception hotel in Guangzhou. Many political activities in Guangdong and Guangzhou were hosted by Guangzhou Restaurant.

Full upgrade
From 1983, Guangzhou Restaurant took the lead in introducing Hong Kong's operating methods. The first is the refurbishment of the restaurant.Secondly, Guangzhou Restaurant was also the first to implement open recruitment in the catering system. The following year, Guangzhou Restaurant reformed software and put forward the requirements of “customer first, quality first”.

Open a branch
At the end of 1989, Guangzhou Restaurant opened its first branch in Binjiang West Road. Huge investment made it face tremendous pressure, but the success of this branch proved the foresight of Guangzhou Restaurant that year. Since then, the branches of Guangzhou Restaurant have blossomed. As of 2013, Guangzhou Restaurant has opened 13 branches throughout Guangzhou.

Established Guangzhou Restaurant Group
In 1991, Guangzhou Restaurant Group was formally established. It vigorously developed the food industry on the basis of catering services. The scale of the company continued to grow and became one of the top ten restaurants in China. The large-scale catering enterprise group had won the honorary titles such as "China Time-honored Brand" and "National Top Ten Restaurant".
