The troops lead by Braddock were ambushed by Native Americans while marching to Fort Duquesne. They lost over 1,000 redcoatsand Braddock was killed, so Washington lead them back to Virginia.

The battle of Quebec was a deciding moment in the battle against the French and British in the French and Indian war. The British eventually overwhelmed the French and defeated them in the Plains of Abraham.

The defeat at Quebec and Montreal brought an end to the fighting in North America. The Treaty of Paris was then formed forcing France to give up its lands east of the Mississippi river. This was the end of France's power in North America.
