    Spring
    The seasons occur at different times in different places but in New Zealand Spring is from September to November.
    Average temperature: 7°C-17°C
    Spring is called a growing season because there is a lot of rain to help plants grow. You see a lot of blossums and daffodils in spring time.
    Spring is also the time when animals are born, like lambs, calves and chicks.
  • Summer

    Summer
    In New Zealand summer goes from December to February.
    Average temperature:12°C-22°C
    We get long, sunny days in summer and time off school over Christmas.
    A lot of families go on trips during summer. There are many different things to do when it is sunny, like going camping or to the beach.
  • Autumn

    Autumn
    In New Zealand autumn goes from March to May.
    Average temperature: 8°C-18°C
    Some animals start storing food for winter, eg squirrels
    Deciduous trees lose their leaves but evergreen trees keep their leaves all year round
  • Winter

    Winter
    In New Zealand winter is from June to August.
    Average temperature 3°C-12°C.
    The weather is icy, frosty and rainy.
    The ground stores the water for the growing that happens in spring.
    Unlike summer the days are shorter.
