Hippies lived often lived in communities with other hippies and embraced sharing. Hippies also embraced other aspects of eastern philosphy, such as spirtualism.

    Gorvernor George Wallace blocks two students from registering at the University of Alabama with police force. Deputy Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach tell Wallace to step aside to which he refuses. The Alabama National Gaurd is then called in and Wallance is forced to step aside.

    While traveling in presidential motorcade with his wife, the President was killed. The assassin was Lee Harvey Oqswald who was in turn killed by Jack Ruby. There is still much speculation surrounding the terms of assassination.

    Nike was founded as Blue Ribbon Sports by track athlete Phillip Knight and his coach. The company changed it's name to Nike Inc. with a new swoosh logo. Today Nike is one of the largest corporations in the world and one of the most recognizible names in sports.

    3,500 US Marine ground troops are sent to Vietnam. The initial deployment of 3,500 troops in March increased to nearly 200,000 in December. The Vietnam War finally ended on April 30th, 1975.

    Robert Kennedy was Assassinated by Sirhan Sirhan in Los Angeles, Californa.Sirhan's motivation was that Kennedy was pro Isreal and attempted to send bombers to harm palestine. Like the asassination of his brother John, there is still much speculation regarding robert's death.

    Hurricane Carmen was a category 4 hurricane that caused $162 million dollars in damages. The hurricane started in Africa and made it's way through the Gulf of Mexico. There were at least 8 deaths caused by the hurricane.

Fromme was a member of the Charles Manson cult and made the attempt because of environmental pollution caused by Ford. The reason she failed however, was because she wasn't aware it was nesscessary to cock back the gun before firing.

    Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronalad Wayne start a company called Apple to sell their Apple 1 computer. Apple eventually incorporates itself and becomes a huge success. After stagnating in the 90s Apple eventually finds major success in the iPod with it's unique marketing campaign .
