The cannon has changed using gunpowder much like the rocket. although unlike the rocket the cannon used gunpowder to fire a projectile rather than using it to launch itself.

The catapult is a tension system that launches an object. It has been around since the beggining of recorded history. It is a weopon that is used for larger artillery.
