Playsatation
The Playstation started an entirely new era of console gaming. With a 32-bit CPU the Sony Playstation was the first 3D console and therefore completely shadowed over the consoles before it. It was also the first console with CD-ROM technology. -
Nintendo 64
The Nintendo 64 was the last system to use cartridges. Although it seems a step back, these cartridges loaded much faster eliminating the waiting screen on the Playstation. They also got rid of the need for memory cards. -
Playstation 2
Sony releases their second Playstation. The first console with a 128-bit CPU can also play older 32-bit games and is the first to include DVD playing and high speed internet technology. -
XBOX
Microsoft releases the first Xbox in late 2001. Its use of PC technology gives it much greater performance when compared to other 128-bit consoles such as the Playstation 2 even though it is still inferior to such consoles. Its most popular game was the famous title Halo. -
Nintendo Gamecube
The first Nintendo system to use discs instead of cartridges.The Gamecube could also link up the the Gameboy to play your games on a larger screen. -
Nintendo DS
Nintendo releases its first handheld console. The DS was an attempt to bring more internet use into gaming. This system also allowed play of older gameboy games and included duel screens with touch technology. -
xbox 360
Microsoft releases the first console of the 7th generation of gaming. The 360 includes wireless controllers, costomizable setup and online playing with its new Xbox Live feature.
