He used a glass prism to discover the colors of the rainbow make up white light. This led to other discoveries later in history. -

William Herschal creates a large reflector telescope,20 ft long,18 inch diameter. He and his sister, Caroline, discovered Uranus with the telescope. -

George Ellery Hale helps plan the Yerkes Observatory, which houses a 40 inch refraciting telescope. -
The Mt Wilson Observatory
George Ellery Hale helps plan the Mt Wilson Observatory. The Observatory houses a 60 inch reflecting telescope and a 100 inch reflecting telescope. George Hale went on to be the director of this Observatory. -
Hubble discovers that the Universe is expanding
While working at Mt Wilson Observatory, Edwin Hubble published a paper proving that the Universe is expanding by measuring the red shift of other galaxies. -
Penzius and Wilson discover CBR
Using a horn antenna, Penzius and Wilson found "noise" coming from everywhere. Later they found out that this was something theorised by scientists trying to prove teh Big Bang Teory was true. -
WMAP
The Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe is launche in June, 2001. It measured the difference of temprature of cbr for nine years until a newer and more powerful probe was launched. From this data, we found out that the universe is 13.77 years old.
