The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime

  • Christopher gets detained

When Christopher had spotted the fork, he pulled it out and hugged the dog. Right at this moment, Mrs. Shear spotted Christopher hugging her dead dog. She immeadiately thought that he had killed her dog. Mrs. Shear calls the police, and when the officer arrives, he grabs Christopher by the arm. Christopher clearly does not like this, according to the details in the book, so he slaps the officer. This led to the police arresting Christopher for assulting the officer.
  • Christopher's discovery of the neighbours dog

The books main charater, Christoper Boone, find his neighbour, Mrs. Shear's, dog dead on her lawn at 0:11. Christopher is diagnosed with asperger syndrom, and therefore he wanted to investigate this murder. But the dog, Wellington, was not only dead, he had been stabbed with a giant pitchfork.
  • Clarification about Christopher's mother

Throughout the start of book, we only hear about Christopher's dad. One day after work, Christopher's dad said: "I am afraid you will not be seeing your mother for a while, she needs rest and she needs to be on her own". Two weeks after his father said this, Christopher's mom died.I would not mainly say this is a turningpoint, but it can clarify some of the scenes and happenings in the book.
  • The meeting of Mrs. Alexander

After Christofer discoverd Wellington dead on the ground, he wanted to investigate who hd killed the dog. But his father told him to get his nose out of others buisness. Christopher decides to make a map of the neighborhood, where he goes around questioning each house. At one point he meets Mrs. Alexander, one of his neighbours. He has never met this woman before, but I believe that she became a mother figure/replacement for Christopher.
  • Siobhan encourages Christopher to write a book

After Christopher found the dead dog, he wanted to investigate, but his father turned this thought down. Shioban, his teacher, thought otherwise. Out of all the adults in Christopher’s life, Siobhan is the most understanding of Christopher’s particular needs and strengths. He encouraged Christopher to write the book about the murder mystery. This is a new start for Christopher, because the book is a place Christopher can write about anything he want.
  • Drama between the neighbours

One day, Christopher visits Mrs. Alexander to show her how far he has come with his book. At the meetup with Mrs. Alexander, Christopher asks her why Mrs. Shears is so alone (his other neighbour). Mrs. Alexander proceeds to tell Christopher that Mr. shears left his wife because he cheated on her with Christophers mom.
  • Christopher's book gets confiscated

One day, Christopher and his father gets in an argument, because his father had read his book. Earlier in the story, the father had made some rules for Christopher, and one of them were "to stop the detective game". Christopher's father got really mad, and from the living room, Christopher could hear his father opening a trashcan. When Christopher went looking for his book, it was not on the table where he placed it.
  • The discovery of the secret letters

In an attempt to find his book, Christopher searches all around the house for it, saving his father's room for last. In a box under his father's bed, he finds the book. But not only that, he find some letters with his name on them. He heard his father pulling up in the driveway, so he quickly took one, and slid the box under the bed again. Who could these letters be from?
  • Father apologizes

The same day, Mr. Boone finds finds Christopher reading the letters in his room. Father tells Christopher it was all to protect him, but he did not understand why he would protect him from his own mom?Father kept continuosly apologizing for lying to him, but Christopher's world turnes blank.
  • Christopher's dad have been lying to him

Six days later, after finding the first letter from his mother, Christopher finds the rest. The first time he found a letter, there was no date on the envelope, so Christopher did not know when it was written, for all they could have been written right before his mother's death, which supposedly was 18 months ago. In the newest letters he had found, it was addressed why his mother left. His father had lied to him.
  • The Murder of Wellington: Confession

After not speaking with each other for two days, Christopher's father comes clean about one more thing. He takes Christopher to Mrs. Shears yard, where he found Wellington. "I was the one who killed Wellington", father says. Christopher was in shock, and father said he did it only because he felt like Mrs. Shears cared more about Wellington than them. Christopher taught, maybe this was the reason he did not want him to investigate the murder.
  • Christopher is worried

Later that same night, after Christopher's father admitted that he had killed Wellington, Christopher was worried that he would kill him too. He decided to sleep in the shed in the backyard, because he felt safer knowing that his father did not know he was sleeping there.
  • Christopher escapes to London

In the shed, Christopher comes to the conclusion that he has 5 options he can perform: live with Mrs. Shears, stay in the garden, go home, go live with uncle Terry, or going to London, where his mother is. Christopher decides that going to London to meet his mother is the smartest idea.
  • Christopher's death experience

Christopher has arrived at the 2nd train, but he sees that Toby is missing, his fathers cashpoint card. In the train tracks, Christopher spots the card. He jumps down on the tracks, but in the distance he could hear a train incoming. But he was determined to grab Toby from the tracks. Lucky for Christopher, an old man dragged him out from the tracks, with Christopher holding the card in his hand.
  • Christopher finally meets his mother

After the train track incident, the old man helped Christopher find his mothers house. When Christopher arrived at his mom's place, he told her about how father had been lying to him. Mother could not sleep that night. She cried so much. But Mother was not the only one living in the home. Mr. Shears, Mrs. Shears ex husband, lived there with her. Had they escaped together?
  • The end of the book

There is built up a lot of tension in the last chapters of the book. But one of the last things that happened was Christopher finally feeling like his life was stable. He had found his mother, who had killed Wellington, and where Mr. Shears had went off too.
