    John Proctor has an affair with Abigail. This shows what Abigail is like. It shows that she is by no means a saint. It is also the event that sets many of the others off. It causes her to desire John Proctor and to accuse his wife.

    Abigail is fired from the Proctor House by Mrs. Proctor. This forces an end to the affair and causes Abigail to move in with Parris. If she wasn't living with Parris, she might have never had the chance to make accusations of witchcraft. This probably fuels resentment on Abigail's part.

    Abigail dances in the woods with other girls. This shows us her disregaurd for the rules.

    Abigail denies all accusations against her, except that she danced. We see how badly she wants to keep her name clean.

    Mercy reveals that Abigail drank a charm to kill Goody Proctor. This shows us how far Abigail is willing to go to get rid of Mrs. Proctor. This, along with her dancing and the affair, really show that she is not a good person.

    This is the first time Abigail asserts her power in The Crucible. It shows how she takes command of the other girls.

    As Proctor confronts Abigail, she hits on him. We see that she has feelings for him, and we find out she had an affair with John Proctor. She also realizes that as long as Mrs. Proctor is alive, John won't be with her.

    Abigail says Tituba called the Devil in the forrest. This is the beginning of Abigail's power trip and the first time she makes an accusation. We see that she will do anything to save herself.

    Abigail confesses to writing her name in the Devil's book. She then starts accusing people of being witches. While she worked so hard to keep her name clean before, she now admits to something horrible in order to accuse others of witchcraft. She now gains the trust of the town. She shows complete disregaurd for the well-being of others.

    It is here that she further gains the trust of the town and continues to gain and use power.

    Abigail sees Mary Warren make a poppet and stick a needle in its stomach. This is when Abigail comes up with the plan to frame Elizabeth Proctor.

    Abigail sticks herself with a needle and accuses Mrs. Proctor of doing it with witchcraft. This confirms Abigails desire to get rid of Elizabeth Proctor.

    Abigail's authenticity is being brought into question by Mary Warren. She refuses to give up, and now knows she needs to discredit Mary. She also knows she needs to resort to drastic measures to stay in power.

    Abigail's character is now in question. Her power could deminish, and she knows it. She denies the accusation in an attemp to retain he power. This event shows us how determined she is. This is her most desperate point.

    This event restores Abigail to power, restoring her good name. At the same time, it gives her the uper hand over Proctor because he looks like a liar now.
  • Abigail claims Mary is sending a bird to attack her.

    Abigail claims Mary is sending a bird to attack her.
    Abigail tries to get rid of the only people who stand in her way. This shows us how devious and cruel she is.
  • Abigail and the girls repeat everything Mary Warren says.

    This shows us how cunning Abigail is. She uses every oppotunity to further her cause.
  • Mary Warren confesses to being a witch and accuses John Proctor.

    Mary Warren confesses to being a witch and accuses John Proctor.
    At this point, Abigail has won. Her named is saved, and she has kept the witch hunts going.
  • Abigail leaves

    Abigail breaks into Parris' strongbox and steals 31 pounds. She then runs away with Mercy and allegedly becomes a prostitute in Boston. This is the final result of what she has done. We see the kind of person she is reduced to.
