  • Blacks Verses Whites

    Blacks Verses Whites
In the late 1800's, racism was a problem. The people of America did not think well of African Americans, and some groups of people such as the Ku Klux Klan terrorized them. Many African Americans thought and found out that Oklahoma was where they belonged, but still bad things overcomed them. Angry white people stormed into buildings and churches, burning them down. That was in 1921, but in other countries it is still going on. An African American is leading the U.S., which is a good sign.

    "Indian Territory"
In 1838, the U. S. forced all the Native Americans to be inprisoned in the state of Oklahoma, with all children and adult Natives who were here before anyone else sad as a mouse caught by a cat. Pioneer life in the 1840's was not easy. In addition to the small space, most families were big in size, a family of eight as the average.
Coming westward, they traveled on the Oregon Trail and the Santa Fe Trail, and stopped to fight the Native Americans on the way. The pioneers also stopped by Oklahoma on the way.

Oil, one of Oklahoma's natural resources, was founded by Edward Byrd, but it took him many days to do it. Frank Phillips also found oil in Bartlesville, and made a drilling site there. In the 1900's, oil was a problem, because too much of it was coming out the oil well. Brave people stpped the oil and capped the oil well on April 6, 1930. This is the reason oil is one of Oklahoma's natuaral resourses.
  • Native Americans Lose Their Land?

    Native Americans Lose Their Land?
In 1838, Native Americans were forced into Oklahoma, losing the other places the had lived. In 1890, though, they lost half of that land, which was already a small portion of land. What had happened: The U. S. had purchased more of the Native American land, so Indian Territory was made smaller, and the U.S. made Oklahoma Territory out of half the land that the Indians' owned. The Natives didn't like the idea, but they didn't and couldn't have a say on their behalf.
  • Oklahoma Is A State

    Oklahoma Is A State
When the U. S. finally made Oklahoma a state, it was one of the last states to become one of the other states - the 46th! The poor state of Oklahoma had waited for 46 other lands in line to be states, so it came in last place with few other states, with Hawaii being the last.
