An improved wire fence was installed parallel to the first one. The hundred-yard open area later became infamously known as the Death Strip

Concrete Walls

Apr 25, 1965

Authorities install newer concrete barricades on the wall. This took place from 1965-1970

Jan 1, 1975

The fourth-generation wall was built from 1975-1980
