    Containment was a foreign policy strategy followed by the United States during the Cold War. It was first laid out by George F. Kennan in 1947, he stated that communism needed to be contained and isolated, or it would spread to neighboring countries in a "domino effect" which meant thatr if one country fell all neighbouring countries would fall around them and the spread of communism would grow over Europe

    The Berlin Wall separated the city of Berlin in Germany from 1961 to 1989. It seperated the communists in the Eastern part of Berlin from the non-communists in the western side and predominantly blocked the people from the communists area from leaving, mostly because they didnt want the communist people to see how they rest of the world were living (which was a better life then them). The Berlin Wall was taken down on November 9, 1989.The Berlin Wall was about 168 km

    Although not having a physical affect, this event marks what could have been if not for the succesful negotiation between the US (Kennedy) and the Soviets inb Cuba (Nikita Khrushchev’s). The event was a 13-day political and military standoff in October 1962 over the installation of nuclear-armed Soviet missiles on Cuba, just 90 miles from U.S. shores, these missiles were capable blowing up a huge portion of the US coast and was a huge threat to civilisation, could have caused nuclear war.
