The signing of the Containment Policy was to insure that the spread of Communism was prevented. This policy was created after Soviet Russia had plans to expand their Communist influence into Eastern Europe, China, Korea, Africa, and Vietnam. The Containment led to short term implications such as the Berlin Blockade and the Warsaw pact. I believe it is significant because it led to the Collapse of Communism in 1989.
