  • Berlin Airlift

    sourceThe Allies were giving food and supplies to West Berlin from the air. The Soviets cut off all access to West Berlin so people won't get food and other supplies. They did this so the people could starve and to make the allies give up West Berlin. They wanted to make West Berlin a Soviet controlled territory.When people got their food and supplies, the hunger was gone and the Soviets failed.
  • Berlin Wall

    This wall was made with 27 miles of concrete and barbed wire to seperate East and West Berlin. People kept on going to West Berlin. Stalin didn't want people to go to the west, he wanted them to stay in the east which was communist controlled. This wall made people even more eager to go to the west. Some dug tunnels to get past the wall. Some people used hot air balloons.
  • NATO

    The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created by the allies so countries would come together and proudly say "If you attack one of us, you attack all of us." This system was created due to Soviet threats. It made people feel safe knowing that the joined countries have each others backs
  • Warsaw Pact

    sourceThe communist countries in Eastern Europe join together. There is Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Romania, the Soviet Union, and so on. The Warsaw Pact was created to show the allies that they can also make friends. It was created to show the allies that they are strong and powerfull as well.
  • Containment Policy

    sourceThis was made to stop the Soviet Union from going to far. It was made to stop communism from spreading. George F. Kennan created the containment policy. He wanted to make countries stronger against the Soviet Union. So the U.S gave a lot of money to Turkey and Greece. That money helped them create a stronger military. As a result, they were able to stop Soviets from gaining control.
  • Iron Curtain

    sourceAn imaginary line that divided Soviet controlled communist countries, from countries in Western Europe. This was created so Stalin can increase the security of his country. This division made the Soviets do whatever they want. They treated people in a very brutal way. They kicked German people out of East Germany. A lot of Germans died because of the Soviets.
  • Marshall Plan

    sourceA plan for the recreation of Europe after World War 2. This was created to help people who suffered hunger, depression, injuries, and much more during the war, to get back on their feet. It was also created to prevent people from giving up and turning to communism. The Marshall plan did have a good effect on people. It helped people get right back on track. People had food to eat, they had money, they had insurance, and much more.
