    Chinese Civil War
    The Chinese Civil War occurred because there were peasant farmers who wanted more money. The two sides were the National Government and the Communist forces. America was on the National Governments side. The Communist's won and would create a land reform that would redistribute land to the peasants.
  • Berlin Blockade

    Berlin Blockade
    The Berlin Blockade was one of the first international crsis' of the Cold War. The blockade began because Berlin would not use the new currency that the Soviets had administrated. America did not take this inhumane act well and ran to rescue Berlin.
  • Belrin Airlift

    Belrin Airlift
    The Berlin Airlift occured because the Soviets had blocked Belrin from the rest of society. America and her allies decided to help and began airlifting supplies into Berlin to help them survive. The blockade then ended on May 11, 1949.
  • Formation of NATO

    Formation of NATO
    The NATO was created to protect any allied countires that were being attacked. The countries involved in the Nato would give military and economic help to those in need.

    National Security Council Report NSC-68
    This was a very crucial report to the Cold War. It was the decision for America to tighten the Containment policy and make it a bigger priority for the US. It involved National Security.
  • Korean War

    Korean War
    The Korean War was a war between North and South Korea. America took sides with the South and China and the Soviet Union took sides with the North. The country was divided at the 38th parallel line. There would be a back and forth between the two opposing sides as to which side would take hold of Korea.
  • President Truman fires General MacArthur

    President Truman fires General MacArthur
    President Harry Truman fired General Douglas Macarthur on April 11,1951. Truman came to this act of firing him after Macarthur's many public announcements and comments. Truman did not like them and therefore, relieved Macarthur of his duties as a US General.
  • Formation of the Warsaw Pact

    Formation of the Warsaw Pact
    The Warsaw Pact was the same thing as the NATO. This pact would protect anyone involved in it and would stand up for them against the opposing countries. The Warsaw Pact was between the Communist countriues as the NATO was between the Democratic countires.

    Sputnik was the first artificial satellite to launch into space. This launch was made by the Soviet Union. This is very significant because it was the start of the space age and began a race to be the most successful in finding out more about space as we know it.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    This crisis was a 13-day confrontation between the Soviet Union and America. It was the closest that the world has ever come to a nuclear war. The Soviet Union agreed to put nuclear weapons in Cuba and America was against this and wanted Cuba to diminish any weapons that could be used against them.
