    The Korean War had a considerable effect on the outcome of American foreign policy. It globalized containment and extended the adversarial relationship the USA had with the USSR. It shaped the future conflict in Vietnam.

    Bay of Pigs Invasion

    The failed invasion strengethened and officialised the government Castro was currently running and solidified the relationship between Cuba and the USSR, leading to the Cuba Missile Crisis. The USSR finally enacted its plan to install missiles in Cuba with Castro's new support.

    The Berlin Wall
    The Berlin Wall seperated West Berlin and East Berlin, and divided Germany into four zones. Entering and exiting East and West Berlin was restricted and you had no choice but to stay on the particular side you were on when the wall originally went up. Long term family detachment was also an issue.

    Cuban Missile Crisis

    By April of 1962, America had placed nuclear missiles in Turkey. Alarmed by the newly formed Cuban government, in 1961 Cuban exiles trained by the US performed an invasion of Cuban territory at the Bay of Pigs, however the invasion was resisted. Castro announced Cuba as a socialist republic, leading to a major enhancement of Cuban defense.

    SALT Treaty
    Both nations created more stability and safety for the world - a nuclear war was further delayed. It also restricted other countries from recieving a dangerous amount of nuclear weapons which generally controlled the threat of widescale destruction.
