America uses atomic bom in war
The Americans drop a first atomic bomb on the Japanese city Hiroshima, leading to Japan to surrender in World War 2. Only three days later the U.S. were to drop another atomic bomb in Nagasaki, yet another Japanese city. Killing up to 224,000 Japanese citizens. -
Berlin blokade begins
After WWII, Germany was split into four parts for each of the Allied Forces. Berlin was divided within the Russian part into East Berlin, which was Soviet Union, and West Berlin, which was American. Stalin wanted all of Berlin to ration supplies to the city so he would have control over the German Capital. -

The Korean war ends and reducing conflict between sides. -
U.S. Pilot Captured
On the eve of a U.S.-Soviet summit, U2 pilot Frances Gary Powers is shot down while flying a spy mission over the Soviet Union. Powers is taken prisoner, the Eisenhower administration is forced to own up to the mission, and Khrushchev cancels the summit. -
Bay of Pigs Debacle
A plot to invade Cuba and overthrow Fidel Castro goes miserably wrong when air support at the Bay of Pigs fails to materialize. Kennedy's leadership skills are called into question, and Kennedy himself develops doubts about heeding the advice of the military. -
Ho Chi Minh Trail Campaign
North Vietnam forms Group 559 to begin infiltrating cadres and weapons into South Vietnam via the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The Trail will become a strategic target for future military attacks. -
The fall of the Berlin Wall
The Berin Wall is demolished opening the once blockage between East and West Germany. Leading to ending the cold war.
