    This was the first major battle of the Civil War. Each side had led their troops in unprepared but it was a Confederate victory.

    A battle that took place in Harper's Ferry, Virginia. While some of Confederate army invaded Maryland, some of the army surrounded and captured a body of Union troops.

    This war took place on Union land and the Union army launched attacks against the Confederate army using Antietam Creek as a defense. The Confederate troops withdrew from the battlefield making it a Union victory.

    A battle described as the war's turning point. The Union army defeated the attacks by the Confederate army which ended their attempt to invade the North. This battle took place around Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, thus called The Battle of Gettysburg.

    One of the last battles of the Civil War, the Confederate army surrenders to the Union army. This caused many surrenders in the South, signaling the end of the war.
