  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was created to gain more money for the British to cover their dept. It was also created to stop French West Indies from smuggling sugar to the colonies. The colonists had to pay a tax in order to purchase sugar. This limited the production of rum in the colonies. To enforce this act, most customs officials were stationed in the colonies, and British war ships were placed around the ports.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The colonies had to provide the British soldiers with food and shelter for a unknown amount of time and couldn't refuses them. This act was made to enforce other Parliamentary Acts. It was also made to protect the colonies against threats from the remaining Frenchmen and Native Americans.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The colonies were complaining about the Sugar Act so The Prime Minister created the Stamp Act in stead. The Prime Minister felt this act was fair because British citizens already pay similar taxes. The act made the colonies pay for a stamp for every piece of paper they purchased.
  • The Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act
    This act would stretch the power of the British soldiers by allowing them to search any building randomly, and the colonies could do nothing to interfere with them going through their private property. They also taxed goods imported to the colonists. This act was created to address the colonists frustration and to stop smuggling in the colonies.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    This act was created to cover the British dept from the French and Indian War. It was all so to help The East Indian Company by granting then a monopoly. They had to pay a tax in order to purchase imported tea.
  • Coercive/Intolerable Acts: Boston Port Act

    Coercive/Intolerable Acts: Boston Port Act
    The colonies aren't allowed to load or unload produces onto ships without paying a tax. This Act was created to gain control over the colonies. This need more control over the colonies because the British started to lose power over them.

    The colonists aren't allowed to hold meetings without the British governor. If a colonies commits a crime they must be trialed in Britain. This Act was created to help gain more control over the 13 Colonies.

    Coercive/Intolerable Acts: Quebec Act
    Britain added more land to the colonies to gain control over the people. This act was created so the British could get more territory added to the colonies. This all so allowed Britain to gain more money and control over the colonies.
