Start of the spillBp oil spill started because Transocean and Haliburton companies were not monitering the well, and the cement around it had not dried compeltley. They went along with their job, and the oil spilled beause the cement had not dried completley. -

They tried using remotley operated underwater vehicles to clean up the oil. This plan failed. -
2nd attempt to clean up the oil
They tried using a 125 ton dome over the largest leak and piping the oil to a storage vessel on the surface which failed when gas started to leak from pip and cold water intersected with it, forming crystals blocking opening of the dome. -

3rd attempt to clean up the oil
They also tried pumping heavy drilling fluids into the blowout preventor to restrict the flow of oil before sealing it permantley with cement. This plan also failed. -

Some started to get curious
Dispersants in the waterSome people started to get suspicious on wether or not the oil was actually being cleaned up. After not hearing about the spill, people figured out they used dispersants in the water. When they put it in the water, it put weight on the oil and sunk it down to the bottom of the ocean. -
