Growing up in a Spanish speaking family I was introduced to the English language in Kindergarten. As a young boy I was not exposed to books or letters in English. This was my first introduction to the English alphabet.

During my first years of Elementary School, my mother read Spanish books to me. Cordoroy is one of the the my favorite Spanish books.

During the second grade I started reading my first English book on my own.

As I entered the 6th grade, my reading skills were coming along so I was expected to read chapter books. One of my first series I read is GooseBumps

Once I felt comfortable reading chapter books, I was introduced to English Literature books. I struggled with the old English writing, but that experienced helped me improve as a reader.

Even though English is not my primary language I built a strong foundation to read History text books, Science text books, etc...

I did not attend college right after, so I was not obligated to read. I didn't interact much with book, how ever the one thing I enjoy reading is the local news paper.

My passion for reading returned when I enrolled into college at the age of 28. I enjoy reading the book Empire of Illusions.

A part of being educated and informed revolves around staying up to date with social events. I have developed a habit to read news articles or online articles that provide daily news around the world.

I certainly have made literature an essential part of my life, whether it be as a hobby or for academic purposes I enjoy reading and as a future teacher I hope I have a positive influence on my students when it comes to reading.
