In 1773, Tea Act lets East India Company avoid tax and undersell colonists Boston Tea Party. Disguised colonists dump 18,000 lbs. Tea into the harbor. -
The Intolerable Acts
King George III, the British king, is angered by the destruction of the tea. 1774, parliament passes Intolerable Acts as a response to Tea Party. Acts close Boston Harbor then quarter soldiers in empty homes, buildings. -
The Quebec Act
Expands Quebec south to Ohio River, west to Mississippi River
American colonists were concerned that the Act would limit the settlement of the frontier. -

Americans Choose Sides
The Colonists were split into two different groups. Patriots were the colonists of the Thirteen Colonies who rejected the British. Loyalists were the colonists that remained loyal to the established ruler or government, especially in the face of a revolt.
