  • The sugar act

    The first tax britan put on the Americans was on sugar and other imports from contries other than britan.

  • The stamp Act

    Americans began to dislike King George III with every new tax levied. Many american politicians would say, "No taxation without representation."

  • First continental congress

    The first continental congress was formed in Philidelphia. Members urged colonists to take up arms and organize militias.

  • The Declaration of Independence

    Drafted by Thomas Jefferson, Established The United States as an independent nation. Rights of women and slaves were not in this document. Philosophy of John Locke was evident in the document.

  • The battle of Saratoga

    Colonist defeat british troops, led to the turning point of the war. Seeing the victory, France, the Netherlands, and spain enter the war on the Americans side.

  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Ameriscans and French trap Generall Cornwallis's army at Yorktown, Virginia.

  • The Treaty of Paris

    Ended the American Revolution. The cheif negotiator was Benjamin Franklin. Aquiiried more than 13 colonies of territory.

  • The end pf the Articles of confederation

    Was first developed in 1781, very weak central government and economy.
