  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was the war between Britain and France with help on both sides of the Indians.They were fighting because both sides wanted control over the Ohio River Bed because this is where the best fur trading happened.The turning point was when Britain enlisted the help of their fellow colonists and captured a French leader giving Britain the upper hand. When Britain won the war the drew the Proclamation Line giving all land west of the Appalachian Mountains the the Indians.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The taxation of the importation of sugar and molasses to the colonies. This caused patriots to have protests and boycotts. This was a blow to the colonies because they would use the sugar and molasses to make rum to export it. this was part of the reason that England passed the Declaratory Act. The Declaratory Act was a law but over the colonists saying that Britain can put whatever law they want onto the colonists and they HAVE to follow it.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The stamp act was a law put in place by England's Parliament passed on the colonists putting extra taxes on paper products imported to the colonies. This caused patriots to hold protests and boycotts. These protests and boycotts is part of the reason that the Parliament then issued the Declaratory Act in 1766. A law stating that the Parliament can make whatever laws they see fit and the colonists have to abide by them.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts was a way for Britain to further tax the colonists on products such as glass,lead,paint,paper,tea. Britain used the tax money to pay for their military. This caused the colonists to have protests and boycotts. Some Patriots to form the Sons of Liberty which was a radical group of Patriots who threw bricks there tax collectors homes and burnt effigies wear clothes that resemble the tax collectors. Britain sent in more troops rising the tensions between the two groups.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was controversial event. Some young patriots started throwing things at some of the British troops on guard. Soon a mob of about 30 people were up against the few troops of Britain that were on guard. One troop fires his gun causing a chain reaction of the other troops each firing their gun at the patriots. Many of them were injured and 5 of them killed. Trying to ease tensions with the colonists Britain pulled back almost all of their troops back to Britain.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    With no troops left in Boston after the Boston Massacre the Son's of Liberty and fellow patriots dressed up as a poor representation on the Mohawk Indians and 50 of them climbed aboard the ships and started throwing crates and barrels full of tea and sugar off of them. When they were done about 382 crates where in the Boston Harbor a total of a million dollars of tea was destroyed.Britain was furious for what the colonists have done so they sent troops back to Boston and they closed the harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts was a punishment on Boston after the Tea Party.Britain closed the docks until they could pay for the tea they threw into the harbor.This was a major blow to the colonists because they only way they could really make money was the harbor exporting goods to Britain.At this point even the loyalists are getting frustrated at Britain for how they were being punished for the Sons of Liberty's actions and they started moving more toward the patriots side causing further tensions.
