    The Sugar act was a tax raising law passed by the Parliament of Great Britain on April 5, 1764. It was a modified version of the Sugar and Molasses Act of 1733 that was about to expire. The Sugar Act reduced the rate of tax on molasses from six pence to three pence per gallon. The act also listed more foreign goods to be taxed and controlled the export of lumber and iron.     The Tea Act of 1773 was an act that’s principle objective was to reduce the massive surplus of tea held by financially troubled British East India Company. Intending to help the struggling BEIC, it was supposed to convince the colonists to purchase Company tea which they would also be agreeing to accept Parliament's right to taxation. Colonists recognized the intent and it all lead to resistance towards the Tea Act. In Boston it resulted into the very known Boston Tea Party.

The Tea Act was Americans were being taxed on the tea they bought to help the tea company recover from bankruptcy. A group of protestors decided to dress as Indians and dump the tea from a cargo boat sitting at the dock.
